The Life Of Thomas Langton
A Talk By Tim Chester
Following on from our ‘Martin Luther Evening’ in November 2017 we are hosting another Church history evening.
This time the theme is revival in Yorkshire, and we are focussing on the ministry of one man, Thomas Langton. Although almost unheard of today he ministered with great effectiveness in the late 1800s, preaching every day (and sometimes five times a day!) in Methodist Chapels, schools, cottages and farmhouse kitchens. After his meetings in one area (around East Moor, near the North Yorkshire moors) only 12 people in the district remained unconverted — and they didn’t dare come near the meetings!
If God can visit these and many other small communities in the dales and wolds of North and East Yorkshire about 150 years ago with powerful outpourings of His Spirit, He can do the same today! We will be looking at Thomas Langton’s life asking what can we learn from it as we seek to serve God in our own generation. So please join us if you can on …
The speaker is pastor, author and lecturer Tim Chester, and his talk will be followed by a Question and Answer session. There will also be a discount bookstall and light refreshments. It promises to be a great evening as we gather to hear of the mighty works of God in our own county!
The event is free and open to all.
Saturday evening, 9th March, 6 p.m.
at Latimer Congregational Church, Grovehill Road, Beverley.
